Bloodwork results
It was the longest two weeks!!!!!! My appointment was at 1030am but when I was on my way I received a call to reschedule for 3pm I told them I couldn't do that and that I was on my way now, she changed it too 1115am the dr had an emergency and I was like Okkkk. So I waited outside for the new appointment time. The dr saw me when I got in and started with my hubby's results first I forgot to mention he had a sperm analysis done as well and culture. His results were great >50 mil >60% motility, normal shaped no infection in the sperm and normal Dna function. Negative for being a genetic carrier but he had low vitamin D and a little elevated HgA1C which we were aware of. Now me...... My Amh was 3.8 (good) Prolactin was high so that needed to be addressed. The genetic screening showed that I had the trait for alpha thalassemia but it is ok because my hubby didn't have the trait. So I was put on Bromocriptine mesylate to bring down my Prolactin and I was to call when my Aunt Flo showed up so I could start birth control pills.
Aunt Flo arrival
The ever so tricky Aunt Flo showed up May 26 so I was to come to the Drs office on May 27. The nurse did an ultrasound to make sure I didn't have any cysts which would delay treatment, but all was clear and Dr Roseff gave us the green light to start preparing for our first IVF cycle!!!!!!!!! I cried and gave my Dr a hug!!!!! It was about to start! I started birth control that night it's suppose to be for 2 weeks and as I write this current post I'm on day 5 into the regimen. I'll post again once I hear my next steps. I'm waiting on my calendar so to be continued.........
Consultation
We went for our first ivf consult after finding out that we covered for a lifetime max of $35000 with coverage of 80% after we meet our $2600 deductible! Our Dr Roseff is awesome he made us feel at ease and gave us the opportunity to ask questions. He told us that he wanted me to come back when my Aunt Flo showed up. She arrived April 30 so my appointment was May 3 for an ultrasound and bloodwork and my hubby appointment for bloodwork on May 11. The results of the ultrasound showed 20 follicles that could possibly grow if this was an ivf cycle. They also took 15 vials of blood whewwww. My hubby had less blood drawn of course. I returned a week later to have a saline infusion ultrasound done to make sure my cervix was baby friendly. Results showed no polyps nor cysts and the Dr stated my uterus was beautiful lol. Next appointment May 25 was for follow up and results. That was the longest two weeks.
Ivf is the route we are going
This decision didn't happen overnight. I was married previously and had two beautiful daughters. I thought that's was it for me and that I had it all figured out. We separated after 6 years together the girls were 2 & 4. Two years later I met my now husband 2007. We got married 2010. I forgot to mention that l had my tubes tied and burnt at 22 after the two girls. I've regretted doing that almost immediately afterwards, I had nightmares about one of them dying.....crazy. We decided that we wanted to expand our family so we saved and had a tubal reversal 6/2012. Wow! It worked got a positive pregnancy test 1/2013 but it ended as an ectopic pregnancy, I lost a portion of my left tube with the embryo. Devastated is not deep enough of a word to express my feelings. Fast forward we gave it some time to use the right tube to catch the spermy so when 5/2015 came around I decided to get a hsg done to check if the tube was patent. That was so painful. It showed both tubes blocked even though the left tube I knew that already. Only option was ivf.......who has money for that!!!! I cried I was so heartbroken. So I tried to forget about it, I even got myself two godchildren thinking that would ease my mind but it didn't ease my heart.
So mid April I told my husband that I still wanted a baby from him and he was surprised but he wanted it too. I made an appointment consult for IVFMD for April 20 and told my hubby to check his insurance to see if we can get any help.
